Tooth cavities in our cats and dogs

Cavities you say?

But my dog or cat doesn't eat lollies!

Cavities in pets are not caused by acid build up from eating lollies and sugery foods, in fact, we don't know the cause, we just see the devastating effect.

One of the most painful conditions in cats and dogs is an enamel cavity. They are difficult to see, but one you spot one, you won't forget.

Often in the teeth it appears like a small red dot, or a flap of gum is sitting over the tooth. in an attempt to hide and cover the painful spot.

There is absolutely only one treatment - extraction. It is amazing how many clients notice a difference AFTER the extraction with the eating habits of their beloved pet. Many times people feel guilty they hadn't noticed it earlier or hadn't even spotted it all (we find then frequently as part of a health check).

Take home message - get the teeth checked regularly, speak to us about it in the cconsultation room, and check your pets teeth often as well!
