Current Health alerts - September

Health alert outbreaks - current status - Medium
Current month -  As we hit peak tick season, our major life threatening issue comes to focus. now is the time to check, check and check your family. Use preventatives that suit your lifestyle and your feelings about toxicity of the product/risk of paralysis and death. We see many more dogs and cats dying each year to ticks than most other causes (healthy young animals), and the majority of these are either on no prevention at all, or are not presented for treatment early enough. If you are not sure as to the best options for you, please contact us for some helpful advice. Cat flu cases continue as expected (mainly herpes virus). We have also seen a spike in ear infections and skin irritations.
Parvo virus Low
Canine Cough Medium
Cat Flu High
Ticks Medium
Flea infestation Medium

IMPORTANT DOG VACCINE ISSUE
Did you see the Telegraph Newspaper article last week about over vaccinating dogs? We are glad it is stimulating thoughts and discussions about what and when we give our family members. See the facts about the topic so you can make your own decisions at

Product alerts  There has been a worldwide alert about Cocoa Mulch. Although I can't verify that the Aussie Target shops are stocking the Deadly Garden Mulch, I wanted to put the info out there just in case. The Cocoa Mulch is deadly in the same way chocolate is, heart failure.
See the link for a photo of the deadly product and more detailed description of the problem.

There has also been a Eukanuba pet food recall. We don't ordinarily stock or sell this, but there may be some clients that feed it. If you do, please see our blog for batch details.

 Deal of the month
We are offering a 20% discount on Advantix to encourage owners to prevent Tick paralysis when you buy 2 x 6 packs (mixed is ok).
In addition we are giving bonus 250ml soap free shampoos (so you don't wash away your investment), free fridge timer and hand sanitiser (while stocks last).
Good time to get a great deal and be prepared, and reduce that risk.
NOTE advantix is never to be applied to cats.
