Very interesting development of local GP that is convinced Lyme disease is present locally.
Although it isn't a major risk to dogs as the symptoms are less of an issue, and treatable with a course of antibiotics, it none the less has never been seen in our dogs here, and not really been on the radar either!
Below is the link to the new paper article, and then to a great article of a Vet Asociation we belong to, based in the USA where Lyme disease is a major issue.
Just another serious reason to be on top of tick preventatives on your pets, as they prevent attachment, and as
"If the tick is removed within 48 hours of attachment, the spirochete cannot be transmitted and the host will not get the disease."
